Laurence Geoffrey’s, Ltd. is proud to be the local Korean representative of the Vitra Design Museum.
The Vitra Design Museum ranks among the most prominent design museums worldwide. In his first building on European soil, constructed in 1989, the Californian architect Frank Gehry created an extraordinary example of museum architecture. Located on the periphery of the Vitra company’s expansive production site, it also stands out as a highlight in one of today’s most interesting architectural ensembles.
The many faceted programs of the museum focus upon research and presentation of historical and contemporary developments in industrial furniture design and related fields of study. Temporary exhibitions explore design topics within the various contexts of architecture, the fine arts, so-ciety and non-western cultures.
The extensive furniture collection of the Vitra Deign Museum consisting mainly of chairs, but also including lamps and many other types of interior furnishing, provides the primary basis for its activities. All of the important stylistic eras of industrial furniture design are represented in the collection.
Exhibition catalogues published by the Museum provide indepth, scholarly presentations of the various exhibition topics. In addition, Museum publications include specialty books, posters, and postcards. Furthermore, the Museum produces miniature models of classic furniture designs and authentic re-editions of historical designs.
